Best Reggae Songs 2014 | united reggae

0

The end of the year means making lists and the usual way to do that is to have editors and writers pick their favorites throughout the year. This year United Reggae decided to do it differently, so we asked artists and producers from around the world to provide us with their top ten tracks of 2014.

We received 16 lists and they mostly include reggae, but also R&B, hip-hop, pop, soca and house. It’s quite easy to find two remarkable leads, and both Stephen Marley, capleton & Sizzlait is rock stone and prototype & ChronoxxWho knows are in seven of the 15 lists. Good game. Two other recurring tracks are Magic!it is Coarse and is not & Iba Mahrit is Diamond Sox.

The songs selected in each list are not in any particular order and choosing ten songs can be quite difficult. So we naturally gave Jah9 a pause when she told us that she hadn’t listened to too many new songs this year and could only find five. The same applies to Duane Stephenson.

And it can also be hard to tell what year a track was released. It often differs from different markets and different parts of the world. So you might find a track or two that didn’t come out in 2014, but 2013. Who cares? It’s just music.
