Top 50 reggae songs in 2015

0

The second best list for 2015 brings together the best songs, and just like last year, the second half of the year was a lot stronger than the first six months. And when I wrote the biannual report in July, I struggled to find enough highlights. But starting in July, there was a constant stream of solid singles, remixes, and a riddim compilation. This means that some of the songs included in the semi-annual report were excluded due to stiff competition.

The list contains growing hopes like Koro Fyah, Chouga, Mortimer, Mermaid Sevana and Terrekry, but also long-time veterans, like Luciano, Inner circle, Burro Banton, Cornell campbell and Sizzla. And most of the artists are from Jamaica.

Over the course of the year, I have also noticed that the majors have taken an interest in reggae and that at least three of the tracks are released directly through Sony, Atlantic and Universal. Some probably also have distribution through a major label or at least some sort of affiliation. It’s a good sign for the years to come and I hope it’s not just fluke.

The list below is as usual presented in no particular order and the songs included are only singles or songs taken from compilations.
